BIDANI launches Municipal Management Information System
Three years after the development of the Barangay Management Information System (BMIS) Software, the UPLB-BIDANI launched the Municipal Management Information System (MMIS) Software. This system was developed to merge the different BMIS. The features of the BMIS and MMIS are the same. The MMIS was conceptualized to help the municipalities organize their data for efficient retrieval and delivery of services. The database will also serve as tool for development planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects at the municipal level. To ensure confidentiality of the household information, data entry is limited with the BMIS software at the barangay level. At present, the Municipalities of Pangil, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Calauan, Bay and Los Baños are ready for the MMIS. (CPManeja)

Aimed at providing a participatory search of issues identification and alternative solutions generation to reduce malnutrition among Plan Philippines partner communities, the study covered 64 barangays in Isabela, Pangasinan, Camotes Island in Cebu, Eastern, Western and Northern Samar. With the high prevalence of malnutrition in these areas as shown by results of the three month study, a strong nutrition advocacy and intervention to set the directions for community based nutrition programs must be well in place.
